Overview
Hi, I am Joe Hawranek. I use a Raven as my logo because that is how the name “Hawranek” translates from Austrian / Czech into English – “hawran” is raven and “ek” is small. My father emigrated here from Vienna, Austria where his family had lived for generations. However, someone in the family must have come to Vienna from Czechoslovakia. Native people all over the earth consider the Raven a bird of wisdom. For one instance, the Alaskan Eskimos usually put a Raven at the top of their family totem poles – to give them guidance.
Totem
A totem can be the symbol of a tribe, clan, family or individual. Native American tradition provides that each individual is connected through life with up to 9 animals, acting as guides. Different animal guides come in and out of our lives depending on the direction that we are headed and the tasks that need to be completed along our journey. A Raven is considered to have introspection, courage, self – knowledge and magic. For this reason, it is on top of many Alaskan Totems. This Animal Guide offers power and wisdom to the individual when they “communicate” with it, conveying their respect and trust.
Focus of Site
This focus of this site is on education – your education – on current events in economics and global geopolitics with insights into where you should invest and why. Economics is the study of man in his everyday life. Geopolitics is the study of a sovereign nation in its everyday life. A geopolitical event generally had a reflection into the economy of a sovereign nation. That in turn affects where and why you should invest or not invest in certain areas. Raven geopolitical news stays focused on geopolitical events that affect your investments.
In the process in reading reports on this site, you will get to know something about my beliefs and me. The site intends to provide you with the information necessary for you to become knowledgeable in geopolitics by keeping you informed on the major events happening in geopolitics about the world. It is our intent to write at least 1 article per week in our weekly edition. Last year, we published 2 articles per week for 6 months. One was on China and another will be on the rest of the world.
Today, there are three major political power centers in the World, the U.S., Russia and China. The information in the American press on China tends to be distorted and many times wrong. Because of this, last year we included articles written by a friend who lives in China and was an expert on national Chinese financial structure. We intended to correct the misinformation. Victor Fischer wrote weekly articles until he got sick. Recently, he died. He held a Ph.D. in accounting from an American University.
In addition to education and geopolitics, it is my intent to create a video power point course on Economics. The course sections delivery will be asynchronous dependent on the time that I have for creation. After that, I have other courses that I am considering – such as cyber security. I am a Certified IBM Communications Consultant, which includes security. However, I am now retired. The knowledge does not disappear.
On my site, Raven Geopolitical News site is www.ravengeopolnews.com. I have posted both free and articles on Raven Report, which requires you to pay a fee. This fee is not much and helps me defray costs. I moved all my free articles (100+) from my other sites to this site. In the future, I intend to use www.ravengeopolnews.com free articles and paid articles as well.
My paid articles will appear on the same site but on separate category i.e. – RAVEN REPORT – Geopolitical News from Around the World weekly newsletter. This newsletter will have at least 50 articles per year. In addition to printed articles, it is goal that some of the articles will use video along with power point presentation aids.
Geopolitics
Economics is the study of man in his everyday life. Geopolitics is the study of the sovereign nation state in its everyday interaction with other nation states. Accordingly, it includes history, culture, religion, chosen economic model, geographic parameters, language and government model used in the sovereign state. It also includes the history of the state’s relationship with adjoining sovereign states. Finally, it includes the history and events related to the sovereign state in its relations with the big political and military powers that are currently the U.S., Russia and China.
Economics
Economic systems that are accepted and manage the world’s nations are free enterprise, kingships, socialism, communism and variations of these. In order to understand these systems, a study of economics is in order to note how these systems work and the differences among them. It is for this reason that I intend to create an Economics course whose table of contents is provided on this site.
Purpose of the Site
The overall purpose it to provide you insights as to where you should invest your money and how to save your money when the financial system fails. All fiat based financial systems fail. Getting out and retaining your wealth before failure is the goal. To attain this goal, one needs to study geopolitics and economics in order to anticipate changes that will come from random events.
This Blog site writes for those interested in investment but recognize that investment is affected by world politics and world events. Through communications, the world has become smaller and the internet has linked everyone together. This means that if you do anything in your nation state, it will be soon heard about the world and thus will affect other nation states.
Our goal here is to keep you informed. This Blog writes for self-starting people. My intention is to keep you informed so that you can protect yourself and your family in the rapidly changing world ahead. The next two years will see major changes in practically all dimensions in life.

This site will provide some lessons in economics designed to provide a foundation of knowledge that with your thinking should lead to wisdom. Select the Economics Tab on this site. Last year I published 5 eBooks and did not have the time to do this course justice. I plan to have the time this year.
